As President Obama’s second term has entered its final year, it’s always good to look back and see what worked, and what didn’t. But I’ll leave that up to other people. One thing that’s interesting to examine is the Let’s Move! initiative founded by Michelle Obama; her long and hard fight to improve the health of Americans by amending the life and nutrition of its youth.
…the latter 25% ties it together so very well, especially acknowledging the fact that even the First Lady cannot overtake the completely ridiculous power of the food industry in this country…
Politico, a very fine media outlet, which all should read daily, has committed this in-depth long read about the above initiative from a very objective perspective. This article has sparked this very post, and recommend to everyone, that they spend 10 mins reading it. The initial 75% might seem a bit too pro-FLOTUS, but the latter 25% ties it together so very well, especially acknowledging the fact that even the First Lady cannot overtake the completely ridiculous power of the food industry in this country. Something the highly recommendable docu “Fed Up!” perfectly underpins.
This might be very weak attempt to make a political point, but the above depicts how important it is for the American people to understand, that as long as you have a bought political system, you will not be able to get to the root of many alarming issues such as health. Because, as you can see, even the First Lady, had to at one point accept that she couldn’t bite the hands that feed her and her husband.
Isn’t it every American’s right to know the truth, both when it comes to what’s best for them, and even more, what’s actually in the food and drinks they buy and raise their children on?
