I don’t really know what to think about Eatsa. I thought it was thrilling to read about yesterday, then I came to thinking about how it would actually work out, when orders came piling in. But then I thought, how awesome that they are actually thinking about providing better food for people who just can’t stand the line, and more often opt for ordering or the food truck. And even more important – added a gamification layer.
Eatsa is a new fast food shop, but who beside focusing on time, wants to give you better food. As they write “It’s time to change fast food for the better, forever”. They have set up shop in San Francisco – a shop where you go in, order your food on an iPad, pay by card or mobile, step to the side, and on a screen fronting a small space your name will appear, when the order is ready. You simply lift the screen, and pull out your order. No human interaction.
In other words, it’s a large vending machine for food – serving fresh food.
The food looks delicious – both on video and picture. All servings come with a base of quinoa. If you haven’t heard about that yet, you should be ashamed, and google it. Besides being very healthy and easy going with other foods and sauces, Quinoa is efficient to produce. Not saying you shouldn’t eat meat, I definitely wouldn’t go without, but Quinoa demands 1/30 the amount of energy compared to animal protein production. Well worth the thought.
So if you’re in San Francisco, knock yourself out. But, just because it has Quinoa in it, you should still think about the amount of food you consume. One bowl will still give you approx. 700 cals, and if you ad an ice-tea (non-diet, the aspartame free type), you would pretty much have consumed more than half of your recommended daily intake. Think, then eat.
