They produce their own hay. They have been off the grid, so to speak, for 32 years qua solar panels and a wind turbine. They have sworn to organic pratices since 1987. And they produce some of the best goats cheese you can find from New York (Black Tree, amongst others) to Chicago. That is Lazy Lady Farm.
Laini Fondilier has over the last three decades worked to make a consistent, productive and profitable heard of “working girls” aka does. Today the heard consists of 41 healthy, well-nurtured Alpine does. They grass not on one field – no, Lazy Lady has set up 14 smaller pastures of grass making way for a rotation system, so the heard never grasses on one spot more than 24 hours, allowing for the spot to recover for 14 days. Other farms may have the same system, but that doesn’t make it any worse.
The fact that Lazy Lady has taken the approach of making a small as possible carbon footprint, even though it challenges their everyday operations, should be noticed. That they further more think holistically, only having their heards best interest in mind, and express it in a very non-bs, direct way, just makes it belivable. The website speaks for it self.
